Caprock Canyon Trip

This morning we all slept in and laid in bed until about 8:30 and it was so nice. Kyle had the day off so we thought it would be fun to take a little day trip somewhere close. I have been wanting to visit the Caprock Canyon since this summer, but this summer was too hot to hike the trails. The weather today was perfect, so we got ready, loaded up and headed out by 10:30. It was about an hour drive and we picked up lunch on the way. When we pulled into the park, we were greeted by a statuesque buffalo. Then we drove closer to it and it moved! We all started laughing because we thought it was fake. As we looked to our left we saw herds of buffalo just walking around like they were pets. We drove with the windows down and the radio off. We stopped to walk on some trails and I hopped out every so often to climb up a cliff to take photos of the beautiful canyons. It was a day much needed. We put our phones away and just took in the great out doors. We also played at the park and threw rocks out on the lake. Joseph had a great time hiking and climbing. Hopefully we can take him camping out there this spring/summer before it gets too hot. If you are in the area and have never been out to Caprock Canyon, I recommend you take a family day trip out there and enjoy yourself.
